SUMMARY

Neil has over 34 years of computing experience, gained initially as a Civil Service IT specialist and subsequently as an IT consultant. In the course of his IT career, Neil has acquired a wide-ranging experience of system design, software development, computer operations, training, and technical support. He is thoroughly competent with most commonly used technologies and tools such as Unix, Windows (NT, 2000, XP), Oracle RDBMS, Java, C++, BEA Weblogic, BEA Tuxedo and ATG Dynamo. For the last five years Neil has focused on Technical Support work which has included production of technical documentation. for clients in the Retail, Telecom and Government sectors. This experience of document production has prompted Neil now to seek an opportunity in Technical Documentation. Neil has been trained in the use of Adobe Framemaker, Robohelp and Documentum, - although in practice has mostly used the tools available under Microsoft Office. With his wide-ranging IT experience however, Neil is well capable of familiarising himself rapidly with new documentation tools as necessary, and making himself fully productive in their use.

ASSIGNMENTS (over the past 5 years)

May 2004 - April 2005 - Reference Network Support Manager (for a Government Department). - The Reference Network was a pre-production environment that was an exact (albeit scaled-down) replica of the Department’s production environment. Produced an “Operations Manual” for this environment. The technologies used in the Reference Network were Windows 2000, Windows NT, Unix, Oracle RDBMS, MS Sequel, Active Directory, TCP/IP, Java, IIS and Lotus Notes

August 2003 - April 2004 - Technical Support for a Web-enabled Knowledge Management System (for a Government Department) - Produced “Installation Manual” and “Maintenance Manual” for the system. The technologies used were Unix, Oracle RDBMS, ATG Dynamo, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Java and Iplanet.

May 2002 - July 2003 - Technical Support for an Order Management and Inventory Control system (in the Retail sector) - Produced “Operations Manual” and “User Manual” for the system. The technologies used were Unix, Oracle RDBMS, BEA Weblogic, BEA Tuxedo, Windows NT, Java, C++ and Apache.

June 2000 - April 2002 - System Testing and Technical Support for a Billing System (Telco sector) - Produced testing documentation and support and maintenance documentation. The technologies used were Unix, Oracle RDBMS, BEA Weblogic, BEA Tuxedo, Windows NT, Java, C++ and Iplanet
